If my favorite artist would perform at the concert in Central Park and had the opportunity to “win” admission, I would choose to voluntarily help in a community project, as an example to help renovate a local park. This action would be important to me because I would not only be supporting the community and improving the local environment, I would also be demonstrating my commitment to social and environmental causes
To make it a reality, I would contact the local parks department to identify areas that need help or maintenance. Then, I would organize a team of volunteers and together we would organize cleaning and renovation schedules. It can take us a few weeks of planning and several days of work with the volunteers, depending on how large the area is.
The direct beneficiaries of our efforts would be all the people who enjoy the park and nature, as well as anyone who attends the concert in Central Park and has a clean and improved public space. One organization with which I could collaborate to achieve this goal would be the NYC Parks, which coordinates many volunteer activities in New York parks.
